In a bid to ramp it's product and brand marketing, HTC has recently hired Iron Man star, Robert Downey Jr, as a brand ambassador. The Taiwanese firm seeks to move away from it's "Quietly brilliant" slogan which has seen it overshadowed by Samsung's marketing blitzkrieg.
The deal between HTC and Robert Downey is said to be worth about $12 million dollars according to be Bloomberg. Robert Downey Jr is popular for his role as Tony Stark in the Iron Man franchise and as Sherlock Holmes.
The HTC/Robert Downey deal is rather pale when compared to it's rival Samsung which has used various celebrities such as Jay-Z, Lebron James, Seth Rogen and others to market it's products. In the last year alone Samsung has spent over $400 million in advertising it's products while HTC has only spent $46 million.
