ANDROID 5.1 UNVEILED....HERE'S WHAT'S NEW

By

After a month or so of teasing, Google has finally announced the Android 5.1 Lollipop update. The new Lollipop update brings the stock Android up to par with OEM Android software as well as fixes to the issues plaguing the Android 5.0.

The new features coming to Android 5.1 includes:
Support for multiple SIM

HD Voice calling for Nexus devices on supported networks.

Device protection; locks and prevents a stolen or lost device from being used until the Google account connected with the device is signed into using the correct password. The device protection still works even if your device has been reset to factory settings. This feature is similar to Apple's Activation lock or Samsung's Reactivation lock.

Android 5.1 Lollipop also provides enhancements such as the ability to join Wi-Fi networks and control of your paired Bluetooth devices directly from Quick Settings.

The features introduced in the Android 5.1 aren't entirely groundbreaking and some of them are already in Samsung's Touchwiz ROMs, like the devicd protection which has been implemented in Samsung's devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 as Reactivation lock since its launch over a year ago. If you have got a new Samsung device and fancy setting up the Device Protection feature (Reactivation lock) check this post
