There has been a fair amount of speculation about the future of Nokia's mapping division since Nokia announced that it was pondering what to do with it. Reuters had reported earlier that Facebook, Uber and a consortium of German automakers were interested in acquiring it. Bloomberg is also reporting that HERE maps is being shopped to Apple, which makes a lot of sense considering that building its own mapping solution. The acquisition of HERE Maps could help Apple maps achieve feature parity with Google Maps in a shorter period of time.
According to Bloomberg, Nokia is looking for $3.1 Billion for the loss making division and considering that Apple is flush with cash at, such an acquisition isn't all that crazy for Apple. Other potential suitors includes Alibaba, Amazon, Baidu.
