Ever since the terms of the agreement of the sale of the mobile devices and services unit of the Nokia Corporation to Microsoft there has been some speculation that Nokia might be returning to mobile devices market.
According to a press release from yesterday, Nokia confirmed that it would be returning to mobile device market. However unlike the Nokia of the past, the present day Nokia would not be manufacturing any of the new devices itself, rather it would be relying on third parties to do that for it. Having third parties manufacture your devices isn't new in the mobile industry, Apple has a similar deal with Foxconn for the manufacture of the iPhones and iPads we have all come to love. However unlike Apple, Nokia would be leaving the sales, marketing and after sales care to its partner which complicates things a bit more.
While I would love to see Nokia return to making phones and other mobile devices, however this isn't the Nokia of old any more. And I am a bit sceptical about how this new arrangement would work out for would be customers. Let's hope they are able to iron out any creases before the new devices become available for purchase in a year's time.Source:Nokia
