Apple to rid the App Store of Outdated Apps

Apple is said to be mulling a spring-cleaning of the App Store. According to an email sent to developers, Apple would be purging the App Store of apps that aren't being downloaded, apps that are outdated, apps that do not follow the current review guidelines, apps that crash on launch or no longer function properly.

The process is expected to start on the 7th of September, developers whose apps stand foul of the new guidelines have been asked to resubmit their apps within 30 days to keep it in the app store.

Also Apple is limiting the length of the names of apps to 50 characters. This move is to prevent developers from using lengthy names with certain keywords as a trick to gain a higher ranking in search results.
