WhatsApp support for legacy BlackBerry, BlackBerry 10, Symbian, Series 40 devices extended to June 2017

After extending the termination date for the relatively recent BlackBerry 10 OS, WhatsApp is now fully backtracking on the end of support notice and is now extending the same courtesy to other platforms including the legacy BlackBerry devices, Nokia's S40 feature phones and Symbian S60 devices.

The reversal would see WhatsApp continue to support these platforms for a further 6 months till June 30 2017. WhatsApp is the most widely used instant messenger platform in the world with its users exceeding 1 Billion, so it's no wonder that some of its users might still be using WhatsApp on feature phones, Symbian and legacy BlackBerry which has some kind of a cult following in certain places.
