I donated to Wikipedia and here's why you should too

By
Just recently I made a donation to the Wikimedia Foundation who happened to run one of my favourite website, Wikipedia. And i thought I should also make an appeal to you kind folks who happen to read my little blog to consider donating to the foundation. If you'd like to make a donation to the Wikimedia Foundation, you can do so by Clicking Here.

If you haven't donated to the Wikimedia Foundation, here are four reasons why you should consider supporting the Wikimedia Foundation by way of a donation.

1. YOU USE OR HAVE USED IT
if you have been in any form of tertiary institution or even had cause to research any topic chances are that you've come across Wikipedia. And also chances are that it helped you accomplish your aim.

2. YOU'D BE HELPING STUDENTS ACROSS THE WORLD
Donating to the Wikimedia Foundation would be helping thousands if not millions of students across world who depend on Wikipedia to learn about topics they're unfamiliar with. Thanks to the wonderful contributors, Wikipedia articles are far easier to understand than textbooks.  While I was in University, Wikipedia was my first port of call whenever I needed information on any topic. The articles helped shape my term papers and thesis, the references at the bottom helped me in finding suitable research papers and journals.

3. TEXTBOOKS REPLACEMENT
While this is usually understated Wikipedia makes for great textbook replacement especially for students in certain places in the world where textbooks are hard to come by.  And with the push towards the digital it's ever more important that sites like Wikipedia are kept running, free from ads and not unduly influenced.

4. SMALL DONATIONS ARE WELCOME
Donations to the Wikimedia Foundation are very accessible, donations can be below £5 and can be made via Debit/Credit cards or PayPal.
